Dining Amongst the Stars

By on December 30, 2017

Ever wonder what it was like for the Greek gods to dine so close to heaven? To have the shimmering light of the moon cast before them as they feasted on extravagant epicurean delights. Well, now you have the rare opportunity of feeling such pleasures, as Casa Velas will take you up in the air to experience a lavish feast with their Dinner in the Sky!

Diners will be mesmerized as they experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure of dining in the sky. The Casa Velas hotel situated in picturesque Puerta Vallarta, Mexico has successfully managed to combine both culinary reveries with a unique bucket list experience.

A culinary experience like no other.

Dinner in the Sky, which will be offered for the next three years, has been deemed as one of the world’s most exhilarating dining experiences. Guests are hoisted by crane to the height of 150ft where they are presented with a perfect bird’s eye view of the striking Banderas Bay and Sierra Madre Mountains. And, just to keep things interesting, Casa Velas, an AAA Four Diamond luxury adults-only all-inclusive boutique hotel, will be rotating guest chefs every couple of days.

Food lovers will rejoice in knowing that the multi-course gourmet dinner is perfectly executed by some of the top chefs in Mexico. In fact, for my Dinner in the Sky adventure, the guest chef was the well-known and super talented Chef Massimo Fongaro.

The evening started with a few cocktail drinks and the signing of a waiver form. This is a simple formality since every safety precaution has been considered. As the sun was about to set in the mountains, the guests, as well as the chef and his kitchen brigade, were harnessed around the table. Once secured, we were slowly lifted to our dining height which offered us a breath-taking view! And ladies, you can still wear an evening dress.

The exquisite meal consisted of a beautiful melange of courses: an appetizer consisting of scallops in a raspberry sauce with tomatoes; a delectable rich lobster lasagna; a beef filet with corn polenta served with cambozola sauce and freshly shaved truffles that the Chef was ever so generous with. Our pièce de résistance was the Chef’s interpretation of a tropical Tiramisu filled with strawberry and passion fruit. The evening was accentuated by a beautiful display of fireworks lighting up the night sky.

The amazing dinner that Chef Massimo Fongaro created for the Dinner in the Sky event (back to front) scallops in a raspberry sauce with tomatoes; a delectable rich lobster lasagna; a beef filet with corn polenta served with cambozola sauce and shaved truffles and a tropical Tiramisu filled with strawberry and passion fruit.

Casa Velas has definitely thought outside the box when it comes to spoiling their guests and providing them with this exclusive culinary adventure. Seats for guests staying at Casa Velas cost $50US, and for non-resort guests, the fee is $170US (pre-order).

If you want to be dazzled and left in awe as you enjoy a fine dining adventure at unprecedented heights, complemented by top-rated hospitality, then I highly recommend Dinner in the Sky as part of your relaxing stay at Casa Velas.

  • While sitting on the famous 'Giant's Boot'👢I took in the sight, smell and view of the ocean during my stay in Northern Ireland☘
The Giant's Boot is one of six must-see sights at Northern Ireland's only UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In Port Noffer, sea lover's 🌊 like myself can find a small path leading towards the sea. This takes you to what is perhaps the bay's most famous feature - the Giant's Boot - reputed to be a size 93.5! #bigfeet #travelblogger #travel #travelpics #thefoodteasetravel #luxurytravel #northernireland #ireland #unesco #sea #sealover

I learned so much about this tasty delicacy 😋 directly from the man himself @kingofcaviar
As a Canadian 🇨🇦 I am proud of the work that Acadian Sturgeon and Caviar Inc. is doing in regards to replenishing the sturgeon population, simply amazing 😍

  • Tea time with delicious nibbles at this perfect country retreat🥮🧁@manorhousecountryhotel dates back to the 17th centry - the perfect combination of old world charm with modern luxury. It was exactly what I needed while I toured around Northern Ireland☘😍

  • I was surprised to find out about Ireland's 'Gin Craze'🍸 that has been happening the last couple of years. It seems as though almost every establishment I had the pleasure staying in Ireland at (castles, resorts and hotels) had their own crafted gin. So it made sense that @galgormresort, winner of the 'Global Luxury Spa of the Year 2018' (they have Ireland's first of its kind, 'Thermal Village & Spa'), also won 'Bar of Year 2018' with their Gin Library tastings. They carry over 400 different types of gin. Being a gin lover this was something that I couldn't pass up on! My favourites were UK's Truffle Gin - using white truffles from Alba😍😍 and Spain's Nordés Atlantic Galician Gin with their citrus notes. And surprisingly, the milk gin, 'Bertha's Revenge' from Ireland (didn't realize that several gin distilleries were using whey in their recipes) was also quite tasty🍸😋 A wonderful and delicious experience to say the least 😉#gin #gintasting #ginlovers #drinks #cocktails #travelblogger #foodblogger #spirits #presstrip #luxury #luxelife #gincraze #truffles #thefoodteasedrinks #thefoodteasetravel #waunderlust #globetrotter #passport #gintonic
  • What an amazing experience I had in Northern Ireland at the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge!!
Fishermen used to erect a rope bridge to Carrick-a-Rede island over the 30m-deep/20m wide chasm to check their salmon nets.Today visitors like myself, can enjoy the incredible experience and cross the bridge to access the rocky island.
The scenery from that height is simply breathtaking 😍 #northernireland #ireland #travelblogger #travelpics #naturelover #attraction #topattraction #pictureperfect #carrickareedropebridge #naturephotography #thefoodtease #thefoodteasetravel #lovemyjob #lovethisplace #zenmoment #oceanview #oceanlover #adrenaline #bridge #shakyshaky
  • Traveling to @discoverni ☘☘one must visit the awe-inspiring columns known as the Giant's Causeway.😍😱 The Giant's Causeway was formed over 600 million years ago, when molten lava cooled suddenly on contact with water. The Causeway lava cooled and shrank, splitting apart to create a pavement-like surface and tall columns. Most have 6 and 7 sides to them😱
You have to see them upclose and take in their beauty!❤❤ #northernireland #ireland #travelblogger #travelpics #naturelover #attraction #topattraction #pictureperfect #giantscauseway #lava #naturephotography #thefoodtease #thefoodteasetravel #lovemyjob #lovethisplace #zenmoment
  • Some Irish luck☘ was on my side during my foraging walk and mindfulness tour in the Sperrin Mountains. I was learning about the local flora and learning about being 'present' in the moment when my☘ luck kicked in. Since its 'lambing' season, one of the ewes was about to give birth and at that moment, I was asked if I would be interested in assisting the birth!!! I was so excited!
To pull the lambs front legs and see it's tiny face was breathtaking😍😍To see it open its doe like almond eyes for the first time will be something I will always cherish...to me that is the best Irish souvenir I could ever ask for☘🐑😍 I was more than happy to hold a lamb that was just 20min old and now to actually assist in a birth...well that was the icing on the cake for me😍😍 #travelblogger #travelpics #travellover #instatravel #foodblogger #lambing #timingiseverything #perfecttiming #birth #onceinalifetime #irishlamb #foraging #gratitude #memorable
  • I had an incredible stay at the luxurious 5-star @lougherneresort 😍 And if that wasn't enough, I also had the pleasure of meeting acclaimed Executive Chef @noel_ireland
and be spoiled with his mouthwatering dishes!
Golfers ⛳will be in heaven as this resort has 2 championship courses with the most beautiful scenery. I was fortunate to have a private boat ride and delicious picnic (available to guests) to view Lough Erne and its many islands, including one that has Tully Castle, built in 1611😱 #travelblogger #foodblogger #waunderlust #globetrotter #worldtravel #foodie #foodporn #castle #golfer #luxurylife #luxurytravel #resort #thegoodlife #lovemyjob #thefoodteasetravel #thefoodteaseeats
  • I couldn't go to Northern Ireland without visiting the Games Of Thrones site, The Dark Hedges aka The King's Road. Its one thing to see it on tv but its another to see the beautiful beech trees up close. The Dark Hedges are the most photographed spot in Northern Ireland...I just couldn't pass it up. The scenery upclose is hauntingly beautiful!!😱😍 #travelblogger #got #gotfan #darkhedges #kingsroad #northernireland #instatravel #thefoodtease #thefoodteasetravel #runningscared #nature #naturephotography #beauty #gamesofthrones #bucketlist #gotfans
